Today what jumped out at me was found in Proverbs 17.6 - Children's children are the crown of old men, and the glory of children is their father.
Is this not absolutely true? When you were a kid, wasn't your father like a superhero. How many times did I say and hear, "my dad can beat your dad."? Every child wants to be proud of their father. Some even make things up if the truth isn't substantial enough for them.
I will be mindful of this scripture as I go about my day. On the eve of my son's seventh birthday, I am hopeful that he can remain proud of his daddy. I want to be the kind of father that my father is to me. To this day, my dad is a role model to me, and I want to be like him. So I will be mindful of the word here to remain a hero to my babies as long as they need me to be.
Dear Father, I thank you for your provision of an earthly father who is walking a path before You and me that I can be proud of. I thank You for the good that my father imparted to me both with and without words. Lord, help me to be the father that You have called me to be. I realize that no one else can do for my children what You have given me to do for them. Help me to be mindful of this conversation in the day of temptation to stray from Your will. Help me Father to be the kind of father that You are.
I love you Lord. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
